Yoga Is for Everyone!

It has only been recently that research has shown the true benefits of yoga. Centuries old, yoga can help build strength and flexibility, while decreasing stress. It also promotes a balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Researchers are beginning to see the other substantial benefits as well.

Yoga is a great way to help lower high blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing rate. No one is too old for yoga. No one is too young. Yoga for kids centers are popping up all over the country and have taken the yoga world by storm. Many yoga centers offer classes for adults and allow their older children to participate, as well in yoga. For kids, yoga offers a way to release the tensions of their day, just as it does for adults.

Although there has been little research, it is believed children who practice yoga will continue into adulthood to enjoy yoga. For kids, this offers a great way to stay in shape and maintain physical health needed for play and other athletic activities.

Benefits of Yoga for Kids

Yoga for kids classes help children to build better body awareness, self control, and greater coordination. Yoga can also be of tremendous help to children with attention deficit disorders. Yoga for kids classes can help these children get the sensory and motor stimuli they require, but in a positive way. Yoga poses that seen to work well in these yoga for kids classes are the warrior and the tree poses. These poses will help increase balance and coordination, but the trick is to teach children to go beyond the pose. They need to experience the feelings of well being that adults often do after a session of yoga. For kids, it can sometime be difficult to close their eyes and continually think of relaxing.

While you can find yoga for kids classes offered in most yoga centers, it is a good bonding experience to go with the child and practice yoga. For kids, every interaction in life will have a significant meaning to them, and this is one way to reap the benefits of yoga, while spending quality time with your child.

Benefits of Yoga for Adults

In older adults, yoga will often ease some of the pains associated with everyday life. While not all can make their bodies fit into some yoga positions, many can experience the release of stress brought on by the day. There are also many variations of yoga poses for those who have difficulty. If it feels painful, then it’’s time to stop. For those adults who are lonely, it’’s good to get out of the class and just be around other people. Many senior citizens feel uncomfortable in some of the yoga positions, so there are female and male only classes now available as well.

Before starting any yoga for kids classes or even adult classes, be sure to check with your doctor to be sure you or your child are in good enough health to begin. Yoga is often helpful with relieving the symptoms of certain disease and this includes childhood ones as well as those seen in adults.
