It has only been recently that research has shown the true benefits of yoga. Centuries old, yoga can help build strength and flexibility, while decreasing stress. It also promotes a balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Researchers are beginning to see the other substantial benefits as well.
Yoga is a great way to help lower high blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing rate. No one is too old for yoga. No one is too young. Yoga for kids centers are popping up all over the country and have taken the yoga world by storm. Many yoga centers offer classes for adults and allow their older children to participate, as well in yoga. For kids, yoga offers a way to release the tensions of their day, just as it does for adults.
Although there has been little research, it is believed children who practice yoga will continue into adulthood to enjoy yoga. For kids, this offers a great way to stay in shape and maintain physical health needed for play and other athletic activities.
Benefits of Yoga for Kids
Yoga for kids classes help children to build better body awareness, self control, and greater coordination. Yoga can also be of tremendous help to children with attention deficit disorders. Yoga for kids classes can help these children get the sensory and motor stimuli they require, but in a positive way. Yoga poses that seen to work well in these yoga for kids classes are the warrior and the tree poses. These poses will help increase balance and coordination, but the trick is to teach children to go beyond the pose. They need to experience the feelings of well being that adults often do after a session of yoga. For kids, it can sometime be difficult to close their eyes [...]
It determines what perspective you view your own life. It is a mental attitude that focuses on positive thoughts, words, actions and feelings that are working to create a successful environment.
As Henry Ford said, “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.”
It all starts with positive thoughts.
Positive people focus their feelings on joy, happiness, health, prosperity, harmony and love. They seek successful outcomes and take positive actions to create that reality. Through attraction principles, positive thinkers live in solutions, not problems.
So often time it happens, we all live our life in chains, and we never even know we have the key. ~The Eagles, “Already Gone”
Do you know that not everyone believes in positive thoughts?
You’ve met the people that don’t. You can pick them out of a crowd because you want to run as fast as you can to get away from them!
You know I used to feel bad about that, but I soon realized, it is a CHOICE to think positive thoughts. Happy or Not. Choose one.
I read this study once of people that were involved in a accident that left them paralyzed and that within 6 months of the accident they returned to their normal mental thinking.
Even though they were in a life changing accident, some accepted the limited use of their limbs and focused on moving forward in their life positively.
It’s no surprise to me that the people that practice positive thoughts moved on much more quickly.
The attraction principles tell us that if one focuses their attention on positives they will get more of the same. Like attracts like.
Prayer and mantras are secrets to find peace of mind. For some people chanting the name of god is a way to find peace. Chanting mantras, like the Gayatri Mantra can help you find peace. Prayers have tremendous power to let you acquire peace. Thus writer John Wooden has quoted, “There are many things that are essential to arriving at truepeace of mind, and one of the most important is faith, which cannot be acquired without prayer.”
Find time for yourself. When you will find time for yourself only then will you find peace within. Aromatic oils, scented candles, and melodic music will surely come for your aid, but being happy from within is the answer to your pursuit offinding peace. Exercise regularly, eat healthy food and keep smiling.
Peace of mind gets affected when our mind gets occupied with filthy emotions like anger, jealousy, sadness or envy. You will never find peace of mind until you listen to your heart, so be yourself and you will be experiencing peace soon.
Stress is everywhere nowadays, but there are ways to cope to make life more comfortable during tough times. I am not a doctor, but have had suffered with depression and anxiety in my past. Due to much therapy, reading books and learning different ways to relax on my own, my life has drastically improved. When stress happens, I automatically use techniques to relax my mind, that work well for me. Here are some ways to cope that I’ve used in my recovery, to help give peace and positivity during stressful times.
When feeling depressed and stressed out, don’t watch the news. Watch comedy, or something else less “heavy”. Watch world or local happenings later when you want, but when feeling on “overload”, don’t watch anything potentially depressing or stressful. This isn’t avoidance, it is self-preservation and helping yourself to regulate your mood. When the mind is on overload, it can grind to a halt and temporarily shut down, resulting in blocks of memory loss or other symptoms (feeling on “auto pilot”, for example). The goal is calm and peace so be careful what you subject yourself to when anxious or depressed.
Make your atmosphere relaxing in different ways. Certain colors in your living environment promote calm, read up on which are best and use them. Listen to quiet, or calming music. Dim the lights a little. Whatever helps you to feel relaxed. Some light candles, others read something pleasant. Do something that is entertaining yet not overly stimulating. I watch a movie, or write in my diary. Whatever is comfortable for you.
Observe your pet (or someone else’s). Pet them, and watch how they just take it all in, happily. Cats are experts at relaxation, see how calm they are when relaxed. Just stroking a [...]
The uses and effects of meditation are many. Techniques which are especially applicable to judo or jujutsu aim to help the budoka achieve psychophysical unity, attain a higher level of relaxation, improve concentration, assist in technique mastery, and prepare for contest.
1. The Review Method
In seiza (kneeling position) , while breathing effortlessly, review in your mind with eyes closed your day’s events up to the time you entered the dojo. Imagine you are watching yourself go through the motions of the day’s events as though you were on video. This method is effective for developing concentration, memory, and for bringing the mind and body together in preparation for a workout. For maximum effect practice 4-5 minutes.
2. Breath Control Method
In seiza, eyes closed, gently inhale to the count of four, hold to the count of three, and gently exhale to the count of four. With increased control, you may wish to increase the count to 6-4-6, or 8-5-8. This method increases breathing efficiency and helps the budoka develop a conscious awareness of the role of correct breathing in judo. A good intro exercise for developing a powerful kiai. When fatigued, or run down, this method is also extremely effective in raising one’s energy level; as a consequence you will feel refreshed and alert. Do not practice this technique right before going to bed. It will keep you up all night! For maximum effect, meditate in this manner for 1-2 minutes. If you start feeling dizzy, terminate the procedure. It is important to remain relaxed and not to force it while using this technique.
3. The Free Association Method
In seiza, eyes closed, breathe gently and empty your mind of troublesome thoughts, anxieties, and the like. Then, without attempting to focus on anything in particular, [...]
