Stress Free Career Success

DiggSubmit

Genuine stress free career success is possible even if you are not a millionaire. It is true that wealth enables you to work at something you enjoy, have a great lifestyle and be free of financial worries and time pressures. Imagine finding success in the opposite situation: You are locked into a boring corporate job and have progressed little in your career in the last ten years. You feel that what you do is really not useful to society. A domineering boss and unfriendly colleagues ruin your work environment. You come home exhausted in the evenings, faced with the prospect of having to work nights on unfinished projects. Short vacations prevent you from really getting some needed relief. Inadequate incomes and worries about unpaid bills add to your despair. You can change even these desolate circumstances into a successful and stress free career, by understanding and evaluating your viewpoints.

The choices you made in life were based on practical realities. If there were no associated problems, you would have changed your disagreeable job.
The self improvement plan in this website will enable you to evaluate your prospects in life and come to terms with reality. Acceptance will change your viewpoints.
Your disquiet comes from your hidden emotions. Self awareness can prevent those emotions from tormenting you.
Effective mind control puts your common sense in charge. Common sense constantly learns and keeps an eye open for opportunities. Common sense is patient.
Mindfulness exercises will enable you to focus on your work and find joy in the many small things around you.
Success is finally decided by your attitude.

Inner Peace-Dalai Lama

Dalai Lama: Inner Peace, Happiness, God and Money

Rest your mind for 10 minutes a day

Resting the mind, more commonly known as meditating, is estimated to be practiced by about 2 percent of the world’s population. Interesting because we rest our bodies about eight hours a night, but 98 percent of us do not consciously rest our minds. During sleep, our minds are still quite active, even when we don’t’ recall our dreams, which is why sleeping doesn’t count as a rest for your mind. Meditation is described by Jon Kabat-Zinn in Wherever You Go, There You Are, as mindfulness. Kabat-Zinn’s definition of mindfulness is “paying attention, on purpose, in the present, and letting go of judgment”. One way to rest your mind is by just focusing on your breath and letting go of any thoughts that enter your mind. It is important not to force the thoughts away. Rather, you just recognize that you are having them, let them go by focusing your attention back to your breath.

You can try meditating for just a few minutes at first. If you are like most of us, you will find that your mind races with countless thoughts, concerns, and fears. The Zen Buddhists refer to this as “monkey mind” because it reflects the image of monkeys wandering quickly and aimlessly from one tree branch to another. Anyone can master the art of meditating…..just like most activities that bring us healthful benefits, you need to include the activity in your daily life (even if it’s just 5 to 10 minutes a day). After you have meditated daily for at least 3 weeks, notice any differences in how you feel, think, and even how you treat others…..you may be pleasantly surprised!

Calm the Mind- The Lord Buddha Way

Here is a story about the Lord Buddha and one of his disciples about having a calm mind:

Once Lord Buddha was walking from one town to another town with a few of his followers. This was in the initial days. While they were traveling, they happened to pass a lake. They stopped there and Lord Buddha told one of his disciples, ‘I am thirsty, do get me some water from that lake there’.

The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it, he noticed that some people were washing clothes in the water, and right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy, very turbid.

The disciple thought, ‘how can I give this muddy water to Lord Buddha to drink?’ So he came back and told Lord Buddha that the water was very muddy and is not fit to be drunk. After about half an hour, Lord Buddha asked the same disciple again to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink.

Yes, such wisdom we find here that is of course as true for us today as it was centuries ago! This simple advice as given by the Buddha, nothing fancy really, to let things settle is often just the right approach.

The simple and right approach to bring us back to an inner balance and harmony, no matter who we are or what the situation may be.

Also makes us think about the “middle way” which is also a strong element and theme that the Buddha taught about ongoing. The middle way means to not take anything at all too personally, but to try to keep a calm center and peaceful perspective within ourselves ongoing.

Exercises to Remove Stress

Stress is not technically an illness or condition, but it can have a major effect on your life and body. When your stress levels are elevated, you can suffer from anxiety and depression, and it can eventually get to the point where you are losing sleep. This in turn can have a major impact on your work life and relationships. One way to help remove stress is through exercise.

Deep Breathing

Breathing is an automatic function of the body 24 hours a day. If you are feeling stressed, try a deep-breathing exercise. To do this, sit comfortably in a quiet location. Place one hand on your chest and one hand on your abdomen. Take a big inhale through your nose and expand your stomach without moving your chest. Once it is expanded, take a big exhale out of your mouth and watch your hand come in. When you have exhaled, contract your abs forcefully, then continue the whole breathing process again for 10 to 20 minutes.

Tai-chi

Tai-chi is a light form of exercise that involves slow, flowing movements of the body. These movements emphasize a conscious flow of energy through the body and they also involve concentration and relaxation. This exercise is facilitated by an instructor and it is done in a class format. Check your local gyms and parks for tai-chi classes.

Yoga

Yoga is a type of exercise that is more intense than tai-chi and it involves more strength. Isometric contractions are held for a set amount of time while your body is in various positions called poses. Poses are done from a standing, seated, lying and crouching position. Like tai-chi, this form of exercise is often done in a class at gyms and yoga studios. You can also [...]
