Yogic Flying was introduced in 1976 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the world’s foremost scientist of consciousness, who has brought to light the knowledge of India’s ancient Vedic tradition. Yogic Flying is a natural extension of the Transcendental Meditation program, which Maharishi introduced in the mid-1950s and which has become the most widely practiced and thoroughly researched program of self-development in the world.

Yogic Flying is a phenomenon of a thought projected from Transcendental Consciousness, the Unified Field of Natural Law, the field of all possibilities. This is the simplest state of human consciousness, self-referral consciousness, which is easily accessible through the Transcendental Meditation® technique and enlivened through the TM-Sidhi program, which includes Yogic Flying.

Yogic Flying demonstrates perfect mind-body coordination with maximum EEG coherence, indicating maximum orderliness and integration of brain functioning. Even in the first stage of Yogic Flying, where the body lifts up in a series of short hops, this practice produces bubbling bliss for the individual and generates coherence, positivity, and harmony for the environment.

Yogic Flying places the individual in control of Nature’s central switchboard, from where Natural Law governs the entire universe. From here, the individual can command creativity and the invincible organizing power of Natural Law. An order from the Prime Minister commands the total authority and resources of the nation for its implementation. Similarly, any intention projected from the Unified Field of Natural Law commands the infinite organizing power of Natural Law for its immediate fulfillment.

The practice of Yogic Flying provides a practical demonstration of the ability to project from the Unified Field of Natural Law and develops the ability to act spontaneously in accord with Natural Law for the fulfillment of any desire. The phenomenon of Yogic Flying proves that through the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Program, anyone can gain the ability to function from [...]

From Shri Gyan Rajhans

Peace of mind is the most sought after ‘commodity’ in human life. It appears that most of us are in a state of perpetual restlessness. On analyzing the causes of this restlessness, I have ventured to find for myself ten solutions that need to be followed religiously if we are serious about achieving perfect peace of mind.

1. Do not interfere in others’ business

Most of us create our own problems by interfering too often in others’ affairs. We do so because somehow we have convinced ourselves that our way is the best way, our logic is the perfect logic, and those who do not conform to our thinking must be criticized and steered to the right direction, our direction.

This kind of attitude on our part denies the existence of individuality and consequently the existence of God, for God has created each one of us in a unique way. No two human beings can think or act in exactly the same way. All men or women act the way they do because they are prompted to do so by the Divine within them. There is God to look after everything. Why are you bothered? Mind your own business and you will have your peace.

2. Forget and forgive

This is the most powerful aid to peace of mind. We often nurture ill feeling inside our heart for the person who insults or harms us. We forget that the insult or injury was done to us once but by nourishing the grievance we go on excavating the wound forever. Therefore it is essential that we cultivate the art of forgiving and forgetting. Believe in the justice of God [...]

Any dog or horse trainer will tell you that what is fed to an animal influences its behaviour. Although we like to forget this when it comes to ourselves, what we eat has a huge influence not only over our physical well being, but also over our thoughts, and ultimately our emotional and spiritual well being. The yogis of ancient times knew this, and many classical yogic texts, such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, contain advice on a yogic diet. However, proper diet is a controversial subject. Nutrition has been extensively researched by modern science, and there seems to be as many ‘proper’ diets as there are scientific studies. It is more than a bit confusing for someone to devise their own individual diet amidst so much, often contradictory, advice.

The advice given below is based on the classical yogic texts and on the author’s experience. It also gives pointers for further research and experimentation.

Unlike modern scientists, yogis are not interested in the chemical content (protein, vitamins, etc…) of the food. Instead, food is traditionally classified according to its effect on the body and mind, using the the three Gunas: Sattva (the quality of love, light and life), Raja (the quality of activity and passion, lacking stability) and Tamas (the quality of darkness and inertia, dragging us into ignorance and attachment) :

Sattvic food promotes clarity and calmness of mind and is favourable for spiritual growth. It is “sweet, fresh and agreeable” and includes most fruits, nuts, seeds, vegetables, particularly green leafy vegetables, whole grains, honey, pure water and milk (with the reservation that commercially produced milk may not nowadays be so sattvic…). Given the amount of pesticides and chemical fertilisers used on commercial crops, only organic products still qualify as Sattvic, and tinned or frozen [...]

Many people have never heard about Restorative Yoga and are thoroughly surprised when their physicians recommend it to them as alternative therapy for dealing with stress. Most people have a belief that yoga is a fitness and exercise regime that helps one keep one’s body healthy and fit. However, this is just one aspect of yoga. Yoga has a lot more to offer than just physical fitness. Yoga is also immensely beneficial to the mind. It helps calm the mind, rids it of its distractions and allows you to control it. This can help you be more mentally alert and sharp. But, even beyond physical and mental fitness, yoga can offer a lot more benefits, one of which is stress relief and management.

Restorative yoga has become immensely popular as a unique system of stress relief and management in research circles as well as amongst practicing medical professionals. The benefits of restorative yoga are for all to see and more and more physicians are recommending it as an alternative therapy as opposed to dependence on prescription drugs. If you want to understand how restorative yoga works, read on…

The mind and the body are deeply interconnected. When the body is under tremendous physical strain, the mind is likewise afflicted and when the mind is under strain, physical symptoms are evident. When people sleep or rest, they are unable to provide the mind or the body with adequate relaxation it needs to be able to rejuvenate itself. What is required is deep relaxation wherein every tissue and muscle of the body is relaxed along with the mind which is empty of all thoughts, concerns, worries, emotions, fantasies or day dreams. And this is what restorative yoga provides.

On one hand, Restorative yoga makes use of a [...]

Guess what? Kids can get stressed too. As unlikely as it may seem children are developing stress and anxiety related disorders at earlier ages than ever before. While the average child’s stress may not develop into a full blown condition it is important to keep levels of stress for a child as low as possible by using some of the most effective stress relief activities for kids. How can this be done? Here are ten wonderful stress relief activities for kids.

1. Dream land

Encourage your child to daydream on a regular basis. They can take themselves to a place where stress doesn’t exist and conjure up exciting situations which they enjoy. Not only is this one of the best stress relief activities for kids, it also encourages creativity.

2. Napping

Taking a nap can energise a child and reduce the fatigue that stress and anxiety in their lives may cause. It also gives the parent an opportunity to have some quiet time to themselves. * An ideal time to do this is early in the afternoon just after eating a when a child has a glucose low.
